David Butler is the Product Manager of the OpenAPI Platform at MasterCard Worldwide. He is responsible for providing the global developer community with access to MasterCard’s services and data, which bridges the gap between applications and MasterCard’s internal systems, and reduces the cost, time and resource burden of integration with MasterCard.
The OpenAPI platform is designed for developers by developers and will enable exciting new services for payment-related applications.Mr. Butler has more than 25 years of engineering and IT experience. Most recently he worked as a solution architect and application developer in emerging technologies at IBM Global Business Services, delivering mission-critical technology systems across business units and industries. With specialist skills in mobile application and systems architecture and development, he was the co-founder of a start up providing mobile application solutions for mass transit organizations.
Prior to his IT career in the U.S., Mr. Butler worked in the UK, retiring from the Royal Air Force as a senior engineer officer having held various command, R&D and staff positions.
Mr. Butler received a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Salford University and a master’s degree in aero systems engineering from Loughborough University, both located in the UK.
