With the Apps World speaker line up very much taking shape, the latest announcement from Apps World HQ, is the addition of several respected expert app-developer authors to the free Developer Zone and Droid World workshops. Here’s a quick introduction to the authors and their involvement:
Kevin McNeish, Author of ‘iOS Development for Everyone‘
Kevin McNeish is an Apple iOS author, conference speaker, trainer and creator of iOS apps including iElectionDay (awarded iPad App of the week), and has run several iOS Boot Camps at conferences across North America. He is Chief Software Architect of the MMiOS Framework and is well known in the .NET world where he has received the Microsoft .NET MVP award. Kevin is also President and Chief Software Architect of Oak Leaf Enterprises, Inc-a company renowned for building high-quality, well-designed business Apps on iOS devices. He will be presenting a case study on the latest in iOS App Development on day 1 of the Developer Zone workshops.
Grant Allen, Principal Architect, Google & Author of Beginning Android
Grant Allen has worked in the IT field for over 20 years, as a CTO, enterprise architect, and database administrator. Grant’s roles have taken him around the world, specialising in global-scale systems design, development, and performance. He is a frequent speaker at industry and academic conferences, on topics ranging from data mining to compliance. His first Android app was a task list to remind him to finish all his other unfinished Android projects. He currently works for Google and is completing a phD in his free time. Grant will be giving a casestudy on Android 4 on day one of the Droid World workshops.
Mark Murphy, Author, The Busy Coder’s Guide to Android Development
Mark has been a software developer for nearly three decades and teaches Android application development worldwide. He is also the founder of CommonsWare and the author of “The Busy Coder’s Guide to Android Development”. As an active supporter in the Android developer community; publishing sample code and reusable components as open source, we are very excited to welcome him and his technical expertise to the DroidWorld agenda. Mark will be joining the panel focussing on creating a bridge from web to app in the HTML5 workshop track, he will also be providing the afternoon keynote on day 2 of Droid World.
Bruce Lawson, Author of Introducing HTML5
Bruce has been playing with HTML5 since 2008, experimenting, participating in the mailing list, and generally trying to help shape the language as well as learn it. His book concentrates on the problems that HTML5 can solve, rather than an academic investigation of the language. Bruce is currently a web evangelist at Opera software, but is not part of the specification team, his interest lies in using HTML for an accessible, easy-to-author interoperable web. Bruce will be giving a solo presentation within the HTML5 workshop track.
Mario Zechner, Author of Begining Android Games
Mario Zechner is a software engineer in R&D by day, and an enthusiastic game developer by night, publishing under the name of Badlogic Games. He developed the game Newton for Android, and Quantum for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. His current project is an open source cross-platform solution for game development. He actively writes tutorials and articles on game development freely available via his blog. Mario will be joining a panel in the HTML5 workshop track focussing on porting games to HTML5.
