Anice Hassim is founder and CEO of specialist mobile app development studio immedia that is currently redefining South Africa’s digital landscape. His command of the current post-PC revolution, and the accompanying explosion of smartphone and tablet devices; means he is able to offer clients insight, guidance and the products that can define this new media space. He’s also passionate about the development of the multidisciplinary talent associated with bringing apps to life as part of his mission to imbue all the work immedia does with a dynamic set of African values and sensibilities.
A graduate in English and Drama from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Anice completed a degree that included Computer Science, Art and philosophy while gaining real word media experience as the head of the campus radio station. He then worked as an arts journalist for three years before leaving to co-found an advertising and communications agency which evolved into a digital only agency immedia.
He subsequently drove the creation of highly successful and unique digital strategies for stations such as East Coast Radio (ECR), YFM and JacarandaFM which saw ECR’s online revenue increasing from nothing to 7% (and millions of rands) in just four years. Anice is also been a key architect behind a suite of real-time tools and platforms geared at allowing traditional broadcasters to engage and understand what their audiences are doing on their digital properties.
He is currently working with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the University of Cape Town on a real-time adaptive video streaming platform; as well as a number of well-known clients on a range of post-PC projects. These include: DStv, SuperSport, Computicket and Yfm.
